Letter From the Minister Dear Friends, I'm writing this on Wednesday afternoon, with the snow pouring down outside. Let's hope it has all melted away by this Sunday morning! Today is a Family Service, both at Dove Street and at Priesthill Road. At the second service Kirtsy Maclaren will sing a solo, and the children of the Sunday School will be leading us in the song "We are marching in the light of God". So it should be a time of glad worship and celebration together. Today is also my final Sunday officially as your Locum and Interim Moderator. The snow may have melted, but one thing that has never melted has been the warmth of your welcome and your faithful sharing in worship over these past weeks. Even on these most freezing winter Sunday mornings, attendances have stayed very good, the singing has been strong and bright, and your fellowship has been happy and a real sign that the love of Jesus is at the heart of all you do. It has for me been a real privilege to be with you, and I will treasure these days always. On Monday 1st March, your Minister, the Rev Douglas Nicol, returns to duty. I know you will give Douglas all the support of your prayers and love as he picks up the reins of the Parish Ministry again. And it will, I'm sure, be a joy to everyone to be present next Sunday when Douglas celebrates the Sacrament of Holy Communion with you. Wishing you all God's continued Blessing.yours sincerely, Stewart
Today’s Readings: OT - Psalm 100 NT - St Mark 10: 13 - 16
REV. G. STEWART SMITH Next Sunday we welcome back Douglas and say our farewells to Stewart. To-day then is the appropriate time to express in print our thanks to Stewart. He has gone far beyond the duties of Locum and Interim Moderator and his friendship and pastoral concerns for the whole congregation and indeed the parish have been greatly appreciated. Very many thanks, Stewart. We wish you well, particularly in your new appointment as Convener of the Iona Community Board. LODGING HOUSE MISSION-CENTENARY APPEAL The Lodging House Mission are launching an appeal to Congregations to finance “A SEAT AT THE TABLE” to secure funding to cover the total cost of providing hot meals for one or more persons for a year. The cost of this would be £750 (£3 per meal) This covers food, cooking materials, staffing salaries, gas and electricity etc. At the Kirk Session meeting it was agreed the Church would support this appeal for one year and thereafter review it on an annual basis. This appeal is to help the LHM to continue with the wonderful work they do caring for Glasgow’s most deprived citizens. Those interested in participating in our Church’s contribution, please speak to Jess Mitchell.
