Letter from the Minister Dear Friends Last Sunday, my wife and I were back in King’s Park, where I had been Minister for 27 years before I “retired”. It was the Congregation’s 80th Birthday Year, and in part of the service, I was invited to present Long Service Certificates to Elders and others who had served the Church with great faithfulness over many years. It was a great privilege to do that, since I knew them all so well. And it struck me that in fact the same kind of commitment is seen across the whole Church, including here in Priesthill and Nitshill. Surely a reason to give thanks to God. Another reason to give thanks to God is the report from the building surveyor. Presbytery insists that a survey of all church properties be carried out every five years, and we now have that report for Priesthill and Nitshill buildings, plus the Manse. The very good news is that on all three buildings, the verdict is that they are “well constructed and in a good state of repair”. The Kirk Session will doubtless receive the report in full, but I’m sure it’s right to say here that the excellent report is due to the good stewardship and care which you all show in looking after these properties so well. My car has been very unwell this past week. In fact, it has been in the car hospital intensive care unit (cylinder-head gasket – very bad news), but hopefully it will soon be better. So please let me know if there’s anyone I should be visiting – in hospital, in long-stay homes or at home. With every good wish Stewart Today’s Bible Readings:- Old Testament: Jeremiah 17: 5-10 New Testament: St Luke 6: 17-2
Children’s Hymn If I were a butterfly, I’d thank you Lord for giving me wings. And if I were a robin in a tree, I’d thank you Lord that I could sing. And if I were a fish in the sea, I’d wiggle my tail and I’d giggle with glee. But I just thank you Father for making me “me” For you gave me a heart and you gave me a smile. You gave me Jesus and you made me your child. And I just thank you Father for making me “me” If I were an elephant, I’d thank you Lord by raising my trunk. And if I were a kangaroo, You know I’d hop right up to you. And if I were an octopus, I’d thank you Lord for my fine looks. But I just thank you Father for making me “me”. For you gave me…. If I were a wiggily worm, I’d thank you Lord that I could squirm. And if I were a billy goat, I’d thank you Lord for my fine throat. And if I were a fuzzy wuzzy bear, I’d thank you Lord for my fuzzy wuzzy hair. But I just thank you Father for making me “me”. For you gave me… KIRK SESSION
