Messy Church

The first Messy Church took place on 20th November in the Community Hall and Sanctuary of St.Christophers, Priesthill and Nitshill Parish Church between 2 and 4pm.

15 volunteers attended and they were assigned to 4 areas.

    1. Registration and games.

    2. Arts and Crafts.

    3. Celebration.

    4. Food.

The theme was Advent

The day started with registration and parachute games as people gathered. 32 children and 18 adults attended. Another game was introduced which involved finding animal families by making the animal noise.

This was followed by another game for the adults only but the children became restless during this time.

This was followed by an hour of arts an crafts with 5 crafts on offer. The tables were very busy.

At 3.15 everyone was directed to the sanctuary for a short celebration. The children were encouraged to show the crafts which they had made and a short explanation of the significance of each craft was explained to the congregation.

The meaning of Advent was also shared with the congregation. This was followed by food in the Community Hall.

The comments from the adults and children were very positive and all said they would attend the next Messy Church on 26th February. The theme has yet to be discussed.

Each family was given an Advent calendar as they left the church which told the Nativity Story using passages from the bible.
